Happy Memorial Day
"thank you Dad, and to ALL that have served"
This is the first Memorial Day that a "government issued" US Flag was placed at my Uncle Norman's grave. A flag placed by the people that go and place them on ALL the marked veteran's gravesites on holidays, in all cemeteries.

My Dad was so happy to see this last week!
Last year on a visit to my Mom's grave with my Dad, we also visited the other family graves in the cemetery, my Dad noticed that Norman did not have a government marker or a flag on his grave site to honor his service. He wondered if we could get one. I made a lot of phone calls and sure enough we were able to get Normans discharge papers, and other information that was needed to go forward with making this happen. Months later, the bronze marker was delivered to the VA office in Fall River, MA. Believe it or not, it had his wrong date of death on it. It was sent back and another one was made. The new marker was delivered and a few months later finally installed at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.

My Dad, also a WWII Veteran, wanted to do this for Norman, my Mom's brother. He felt that he deserved this military recognition for his service, as do all veteran's.

Below is a newspaper clipping my cousin sent me of my Dad and her Grandfather, they are brothers that served during WWII at the same time.
my Dad is on the right
