I hardly ever post recipes!

Crock-Pot Oatmeal

If you love OATMEAL, and you love your CROCK-POT, then you should try this delicious recipe!

Most of the recipes you'll find for crock-pot oatmeal are all just about the same. I think the trick is to not put the ingredients directly in the crock-pot...instead, place a metal bowl in your crock-pot, and under it place a round ring (make it out of aluminum foil) so your metal bowl does not touch the bottom of the pot, this way your oatmeal will not burn. Put all the ingredients in that metal bowl, I stir once to mix and then fill around the bowl with water about half way to the top. Cover and cook! I cook 1/2 hour on high and approx 4 on low and it was perfect. You have to play around with this, as I don't think all crock-pots cook the same! And, if you go to bed early, you can always set a timer to have it come on during the night.

I start with the following...but, you can alter this and you also might want to google crock-pot oatmeal...there are a lot of recipes out there.

1 and 1/2 cup oatmeal - I use reg oats or steel-cut oats DO NOT use Quick Oats.
3 cups liquid - I divide equal amounts of milk and water
handful of raisins or craisins
1/4 cup chopped apple
3/4 to 1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 t salt or less, as a rule I almost never cook with salt
3 T brown sugar, or more to your taste

Before I serve I add more milk...you can also add butter, maple syrup or more brown sugar, if you like.
ENJOY, and please if you make this...let me know how you like it or what changes you might have made!

  3. I added more apples in place of raisins (my kids hate raisins, weird I know), used half milk and half almond milk (that's all I had in the fridge!) and added some maple syrup. It was amazing, great idea putting a bowl inside the crock pot.

And I'm truly sorry that you're still having to look at those pancakes :) We moved a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to get through a whole lotta boxes, no time for blogging!

    Have a great weekend,
